Born in Toowoomba
Queensland, now a resident of Redcliffe, Pamela Scherf has had an interest in
drawing and painting throughout her life, especially in the field of
portraiture. She has received many awards of excellence in Fine Art at Teachers
College and in a Fine Art Diploma completed in 2002 with the overall award for
the final year. Her other awards include first prizes, public choice, local
champion and champion of the show, also at Redcliffe and the Royal Queensland Exhibition.
Throughout this time she has studied with several noted professional portrait
artists focusing on traditional techniques. The most recent being Daniel
Greene, a master portrait artist in the United States.
She has been able to study in the US and Paris with a Regional Arts Funding
Grant.
Her work may be seen in several private collections through out Australia.
Now for over ten years Pamela has been steadily producing a large collection of
portraits and figurative paintings in oil, pastel, charcoal and pencil.
Pamela loves people so sees beauty in everyone. This she seeks to uncover as
she explores the inner character, what she refers to as the unique essence
beneath the surface features.
Having strong drawing skills to capture the likeness of the subject with
sensitive accuracy, her work is realistic with a touch of impressionistic
painterly freshness.
Pamela is an exhibiting member of the Portrait Artists Australia www.portraitartistsaustralia.com.au as well as the Redcliffe Art Society www.redcliffeartsociety.com and an
accredited member of Queensland Artworkers Alliance
www.artworkers.org
Her work may be seen in the Moreton Bay regional collection, and in private collections throughout Australia.
