Busy schedules and
distances prohibit many people from sitting for and artist, therefore Pamela
has of necessity become trained to work from good photographs. If at all
possible however, she prefers to work from life sitting in addition to
utilizing photographs for detail work after the sitting. Pamela endeavours to
make this experience enjoyable and exciting. Commissioning a portrait provides
a rare opportunity for clients to be involved in the creation of a work of art
to be cherished forever.
Prior to the initial sitting and photoshoot the desired size, potential
background elements and price will be discussed. A deposit of one-third of the
total price and contract signed by both parties is required prior to any travel
by the artist, or at the initial sitting if local. (If photographs are being
supplied to the artist, the deposit should be submitted with the photographs.)
Generally, at the initial sitting and photoshoot, a study from life will be
produced. After returning to the studio, photos of the work in progress may be
sent (if distance prohibits a convenient meeting) to ensure satisfaction with
the direction of the work. This is best when the work is approximately
two-thirds completed when the next one-third progress payment is required.
Mutually agreeable minor adjustments to the work to suit the client may be made
at this time, without sacrificing artistic control. Ideally, the artist will
have the opportunity to work from more than one life sitting at various stages
throughout the production of the painting.

When the painting is complete, and approved, shipping plans will be discussed
and payment for the balance will be due prior to the actual shipping (or upon
delivery if local). The artist may assist in selecting suitable final framing
to be purchased separately by the client. Instructions for care will be
included with the final delivery. Only the finset materials are used to ensure
permanence.
Overall time to create a painted portrait varies from a few months to more than
a year depending on the schedule of the artist. Requests for special deadlines
will be honored if at all possible.
The client is responsible for all expenses including, but not limited to,
airfare and ground transportation, room and board, shipping, insurance, and
delivery charges. The artist will supply an itemized sheet including receipts.
